The perfect solution to one of my most irksome problems turned up when this box of eco-tricks arrived. The walkway between my car and my house has no street lighting and no electrical points either and I thought I'd have to get an electrician in to run a cable down there and put a light up, which would have been an expensive faff to say the least.
Enter stage left, a PIR motion sensor security light, powered by the sunshine!
The kit came complete with everything we needed, even screws and rawplugs and there was a 6-foot cable connecting the LED to the solar panel, making optimum positioning of the sunshine collector really easy. Over the course of the day, the solar panel powers up three internal AA rechargeable batteries, which come into action as the sun goes down and they even charge without direct sunlight on cloudy days.
With 3 double-sized, super efficient LED's that have a beam reach of about 16-feet, my problem was over all I needed to do was get it installed. So I challenged my 10-year-old son to see if he could follow the instruction sheet and ‘help dad' put it up! Excellent, my cunning plan worked and off he trotted to get the drill and find dad.
They secured the unit onto a wooden garden post in the time it took me to make a cup of tea to say ‘thanks' and then it was just a question of tweaking the light adjustment and timer settings later that evening at dusk. The instruction sheet walked us through it painlessly and I no longer have to battle my way up the path with my night vision goggles.
If you need light in an area that's devoid of electricity, I highly recommend this kit and if I'd realised how quick and easy this would be to put up, I would definitely have done it myself sorry guys, you've been made redundant for this little eco-task.
