ECO Kettle 3

Every time you use a normal kettle, it’s likely that you will boil more water than you need, and sometimes you don’t even need boiling water, just hot water  – wasting time, energy, and adding to carbon emissions.

Getting it just right can be hard.

Ensuring that your home is sufficiently insulated is one of the most effective steps you can take to increase your home energy efficiency.

So, when we found out that the company who brought us our best-selling product - the Heatkeeper Radiator Insulation Panels - are now offering environmentally friendly, natural wool insulation too, we couldn't wait to promote it on the Good Energy Shop. Just take a look at its impressive list of features and benefits and you'll soon see why:

  • Strong, durable, easy to handle and install.
  • Good thermal performance.
  • Made from a sustainable, renewable resource.
  • Minimal energy used in the manufacturing process: only 15 kW of energy is used to produce 1m³ of sheep's wool insulation.
  • Fire resistant.
  • Reusable, recyclable and biodegradable.
  • Contains no permethrin, pyrethroids, pesticides or formaldehyde.
  • Safe in use: No toxic gases emitted in the event of fire, not easily ignited because of its high ignition point (560°C) and its high nitrogen content (approximately 16%).
  • Safe to install: HeatKeeper Natural Sheep's Wool Insulation is harmless and can be installed without gloves or protective clothing. It is non-irritant to the skin, eyes and respiratory tract and causes no discomfort during installation. Any fibres which happen to reach the living space present no health hazard.
  • Provides a year-round home comfort solution: In winter the absorption of moisture by wool insulation can increase peak temperature by up to 4°C when compared to buildings with alternative forms of insulation. Then, when the outside temperature increases the wool releases moisture.  This has a cooling effect on the fibre, which reduces the flow of heat to the inside of the building. This can reduce peak temperature by up to 7°C compared to buildings with alternative forms of insulation.

The insulation is supplied in 100mm thick rolls in a choice of two widths - 400mm and 600mm.  These widths match the standard spacing between joists in most properties.  With each pack supplied an area of 9.6 square metres can be fitted, as detailed in the following table:
