The new Ecolectric Jug Kettle from Morphy Richards is a brilliant new addition to the Good Energy Shop Eco Kitchen that allows you to save around 24% of the energy used by a traditional kettle.

So how is it low energy? You have two settings on the kettle - normal and eco. The normal setting boils the water to 100% just like your standard kettle, but the Eco setting only heats the water to 85°C, using 24% less energy in the process. This is great for coffee lovers like us as boiling water can actually burn coffee, giving it a bitter aftertaste. Herbal teas can also taste quite sour if made from boiling water, whereas on the Morphy Richards eco setting they are gently brewed for a much sweeter taste.
Here at Good Energy HQ, we all love our regular rounds of tea and coffee, but just like every office, when the tea round is due we all avoid eye contact until someone finally cracks and says "Would anyone like a drink?" Oh well! - at least now that unlucky person will have something positive to daydream about whilst waiting for the kettle to boil!
