Thought you couldn't get an energy efficient replacement for your dimmable bulbs - think again!

At last - an energy efficient replacement for your dimmable light bulbs. Choose between switch dimmable bulbs that work with a normal light switch and fullly dimmable bulbs work with a dimmer switch.
Varilight Digiflux Switch Dimmable bulbs
Switch dimmable bulbs allow you to control the brightness of the bulb with a normal light switch.
Thanks to the brand new innovative ballast technology, flicking the switch on and off puts the lamp into a dimming cycle. Once the desired brightness is reached another flick of the switch sets the light level. This level is stored and the lamp will illuminate at this level (even if it is at the minimum) until the level is reset.
Important: Do NOT attempt to use this bulb with a dimmer switch. This may damage the light bulb beyond repair. This light bulb contains its own dimmer. Use with a conventional light switch! Choose the fully dimmable bulbs if you have a dimmer switch.
16000 hour average lifetime - thats equivilant to 14 years at 3 hours per day!
Replaces 100w conventional bulb
Length: 125mm
Varilight Digiflux Fully Dimmable bulbs
These new fully dimmable bulbs can be dimmed using a standard dimmer switch from 2% to 100% brightness.
They are predicted to save the user more than £100 on energy bills, during its 16000 hour lifetime, compared with an equivalent 100W GLS lamp. Combining the energy-saving properties of a CFL with the capacity to dim results in superb energy efficiency calculated to reduce carbon emissions by more than half a tonne with every GLS lamp replaced.
The Varilight fully dimmable bulb was voted ***Best In Class*** in Lighting's November 2007 comparative ***bench test*** of dimmable CFLs, and awarded 5 stars.
16000 hour average lifetime - thats equivilant to 14 years at 3 hours per day!
Replaces 100w conventional bulb

Megaman Switch Dimmable
4-step Dimming
Works in the same way to the Varilight bulb - but is a lower wattage bulb, replacing a 50w rather than 100w. Every switching OFF/ON will activate the dimming program of the lamp. The brightness of the lamp can be adjusted from 100% to 66%, further down to 33% and 5% with consecutive OFF/ON action within 3 seconds. The lamp can be reset to full brightness by simply switching off the lamp for more than 3 seconds than switching it back on again.
Better yet, a further 20% more energy-savings is realised when dimming these lamps from one level of brightness to the next.
Brightness level showing power consumed
100% = 11 watt
66% = 8 watt
33% = 6 watt
5% = 2 watt
10,000 hour average lifetime - thats equivilant to 9 years at 3 hours per day!
Replaces 50w conventional bulb

Delivery Information
This product is dispatched directly from Ryness who aim to deliver within 3 working days.
Very happy with these although because they are slightly longer than the average bulb, and because I have glass downlighter shades, it was a bit more tricky to fit them, but hopefully as they are meant to last longer, I won't be unscrewing the fittings too often!
They work very well with the dimmer switches, so no more excuses for not fitting them!

Price ok, not bad but not as good as conventional dimming bulb

Good price, product not bad but doesn't work as well as conventional dimming bulb.

This is the product I've been waiting for: it's an elegant dimmable CFL (energy saving light bulb) from which you can choose the light level using a standard dimmer switch. As you would expect it's incredibly easy to use: simply plug it in as you would a normal light bulb. It's brighter than a standard 100W bulb and has a nice warmness (colour temperature) to it at high light levels.
The only concern you might have is checking that your dimmer switch is suitable for the small amount of power required from the dimmable CFL, so you will need to check the electrical rating of your dimmer switch before you buy it.
&nbspAs with all energy saving light bulbs, the initial cost of the dimmable CFL is higher than a standard light bulb and this is especially true with this new style of energy saver. However, as it uses at most just 20% of the power of a 100W light bulb, it will easily pay for itself in just 1 to 2 years and will continue to deliver energy and cost savings to you for up to 14 years if used for around 3 hours per day.
&nbspMy only minor grip with the dimmable CFL bulb is the warmness of the light seems to be lost at light levels below about 60% of the maximum. However a simple solution to this is to fit a lampshade around it to filter the light to the colour of your choice.
